How would you like this for your morning commute?
Bittersweet.  Their home was an investment, but had been so open to family and friends that it was easy to forget.  My brother is a creative builder and along with his wife, a wonderful designer.  Mix it together and add the stunning setting of the San Juan range of mountains in the jewel of Lake City, and their home was a bit of heaven.  When they had the Texan Resort, his skills and imagination added granite boulders to showers in the half-century old log cabins and interesting nooks and crannies.  We spent our children's childhood enjoying our visits there.  Then when that sold, we  adjusted to their gorgeous new home which was constantly in a state of upscaling additions.  In a perfect market, that sold and they are caretaking a little house in the big woods.  The bear who came in to steal the giant bag of chocolate chips, tried one last swipe by snatching a griddle still in the box off the back porch.  Bears are such petty criminals.  Those creatures like the huge buck who wanted to come in after a habit of knocking for a carrot treat at the door will have to look elsewhere.  Will the new owners leave a salt lick for the herds that like to linger in the yard as much as the rest of us?

Much like finishing a good book, closing the last chapter, there is a sigh of sadness.  Yet, there is an eagerness to pick up another by the same author, certain of another adventure to come. Change is hard.  New beginnings can be wonderful.  Some day, our final chapter will be finished, and we will open our eyes in our new home more beautiful than the rocky mountains where the crystal clear River of Life flows.  It will be a family reunion.  He has gone to prepare a place for us.

"Let not your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me.
In My Father's house are many dwelling places;
if it were not so, I would have told you;
for I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you,
I will come again, and receive you to Myself;
that where I am, there you may be also."
John 14:1-3
